So Attorney-General Ruddock is threatening to override the recent ACT terror legislation. He feels our laws are flawed because we can’t preventively detain 16 and 17-year-olds and the AFP actually has to show that uses of its detention powers are necessary.
Are we supposed to believe such nonsense?
The Howard/Ruddock Government has enacted, by my count, 30 increasingly draconian pieces of terror legislation since its first in March 2002 giving Australia the most oppressive anti-terror laws in the civilised world. It has also locked them in with a ludicrous 10-year sunset clause.
Enough is enough!
