I feel that the police are using this new law as a way of breaching our civil liberties and creating a power undeserved of them. We are at their mercy and I am already getting a hard time from police who have a god complex.

I agree absolutely. Next thing they will be telling you how to wear your hair, type of clothing etc. Give them an inch and they will take a mile.
